    Can anyone identify this bayonet?

    My father in-law has a few swords and bayonets from the Spanish American war (or so he believes). Can anyone identify the bayonet in the below photo and say what rifle it was issued to and the approximate era (to determine what wars it may have seen service in)? If it helps any, several of his other swords have already been identified as having been presented to a distant relative in 1895.

    Frenchicon Chassepot 1866 at first impression, take a look at The 1866 Chassepot it may help. Dont know of any connection to Spanish American war as the chassepot wasnt used by either side.
