    Winchester M97 heat shield

I just came into a heat shield for a M97. I'm pretty sure it's a repro but my question is, how can I tell? Should there be markings on it? A serial number? Is there a chance it may not be a repro even if there are no markings? I'm no professional and I know that today's reproductions can be hard to spot to an untrained eye like my own. To clarify, it is one of the four row 19 hole variations. There are no visible markings on it. Any help or info on a web page with some photos for comparison or some detailed info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

I don't know of any website with photos.

Can you post some detailed photos of it including of the bayonet adaptor, the entire heat shield, and the manner by which the heat shield is attached to the adaptor.

If its an original lug there are two places that should have milling marks.
The face of the round front lug where the bayo goes on these are circular mill marks. And the other bottom of the contact point of the bayonet, there should be crecent shape mill marks. If it's original and they are gone the handguard has been refinished.
