Craig Riesch 6th Revised and Expanded Edition

Amazon.com sent me an email saying they have the “US.M1icon Carbines, Wartime Production, 6th Revised and Expanded Edition” available. It is selling for $22.95 plus shipping. Has anyone purchased this yet, if so is it any better than the earlier editions? I have the 4th edition.

I have the 4th and 5th editions and there was a few changes but there is still a great deal of mis-information contained.

The big changes were between the 4th and the 5th editions.

Personally, if I didn't already have War Baby, I would add about $30 to the money you would spend on Riesch's book and get Ruth's.

It's definitely no replacement for WAR BABY, and I don't think it was really meant to be. Riesch's little book is useful to have because it's so easy to carry to gun shows, etc.

I also have 4 and 5. I bought the 5th Edition about a year ago and it came with a small piece of paper with three small corrections I'll print below, if it's any use to someone. I wish I had known there was a 6th edition coming out! ("Oh well....)

Hooks, you really should upgrade from the 4th edition to the 6th.
(Then you can help us fix all the errors!)

    Corrections
Page 44, Line 1: Barrel length should read 18 inches.
Page 84, figure 3-17: The "IP" hammer (side view only) should be on page 85 figure 3-18. The front view is correct.
Page 85, figure 3-18: The "HI" hammer (side view only) should be on page 84 figure 3-17. The front view on the right is correct.

shadycon, just a possible option -
I bought new issues of WAR BABY and WAR BABY COMES HOME as a set with free shipping on a 'Buy it now' auction recently on Ebay, and they were less money than I could find anyplace else.
(I hate eBay, but any money saved these days helps)

If you keep watching, you might even find a used copy for even less.
    (It's gonna get dirty anyway!)

I have it... don't waste your money. For example....He states that NPM T1 trigger housings don't angle rearward between the front legs. WRONG! Just sold one and it looks like all the rest I've seen. I'm getting very leery of all these people who say this is and this isn't correct. I'm convinced that
NO ONE has any definitive idea of what's correct and what isn't. How many of the 6.25 million have they seen? How many carbines have been mis-restored because of "EXPERT" opinion. Let's all keep an open mind. My 2 cents worth.

I'll throw a nickel in on that.

I, like others feel there is none better than War Baby, which I have. Decided to order the 6th edition due to the ease of quick reference and updated information.
