Auction - L42A1 Sniper with Night Vision Scope

    Description for Item # 163953243

"RARE" L42A1 Sniper With prety much all of the accessories, and to top it off, the night vision scope and an original IWS mount that was used for this rifle. Scope even comes with batteries that still worked a few months ago. The only thing I can see wrong with this rifle is that the previous owner sprayed parkerizing on the bolt and trigger assembly. Im no expert, but the parkerizing should come off without damaging the metal. All stampings are correct and everything matches as it is supposed to. Even the magazine matches the rifle. I hate to part with this baby, it took a long time to find this one but the x-wife seems to need all my money!!! So please no trades or parting it out, item is all or none. Please email with questions regarding reserve. Thanks!!! See information on rifle and scope listed. 1971 L42A1 Enfield Sniper Rifle - Military Surplus Collectors Forums Lowered reserve on rifle and kit, if it doesnt sell at reserve price, I will be keeping it, sorry!

I wonder how easy would it be to remove the parkerizing that the seller says was sprayed on the bolt handle and trigger guard by a previous owner, or if it would even be worth the effort and/or any potential risk to the components? Pity he won't take trades - I might have been able to trade 2 Enforcers for that lol.

Nice rig. That would be a special kit if you were able to bring this one home.
I'd say it belongs in a museum, but then we'd never get to hear or see a range report.

Mumble, mumble, mumble - Envy, jealousy, moan, groan ............

Why'd you have to post that for Badger ?
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Thanks Badger for posting this in here, As far as removing the Parkerizing, its only on the bolt and the band that wraps the stock. I would think it would be easy to remove. I purchased the rifle from a guy that says it was like that when he purchased it back in the 70's. I find it hard to believe that it was done at the armory. Anyways, if anyone has questions or wish to make any offers on it please feel free to email me at ricoim@hotmail.com

In truth, I just want the IWS kit...Nobody here can spring for the rest right now!

I think we were 2nd highest bidder on the first auction, but haven't kept track as I don't do internet auctions myself.

Why remove the Parkerizing? That would leave bare metal underneath. It needs a coat of Suncorite 259 paint baked on over top of the fresh degreased Parkerizing and it'd good as new and original.
