Can anyone identify this mark at the rear of the sling well on my Inland.

Getting some usable photos was a pain...

Just can't see enough of any markings to tell.

Did you use the 'Macrco' setting on your camera?

I had the camera set at its highest level of resolution (12 mp) and must have shot a dozen or so photos, with varying types of lighting or shading. Unfortunately this was the best I could do. FWIW, there doesn't seem to be anything visible below the point of the "V" or around the lower sides. I haven't disturbed the stock's finish, so I don't know if it would clean up to better show the image.

Try and take the images and adjust the size to say 6x8". The picture is such high-res that you can stretch it 5X and still be around 2.5 megapixels. You just need to resize them and crop them up.

Send me a few pics to my e-mail and I'll try and enhance the contrast on photoshop. I'll post them for you. Take me like 3 minutes.

    Here you go:

I don't know but someone might. Crescent shape of some kind.

    Good luck...

That looks like the ducks foot found on NM m1 garands.
If any of you are GCAicon members that was in an issue about 2 years ago and they had no idea what it meant.
I will see if I can scrape up the article.

Many thanks hammonje for the help on the photos. I'll send the photos i have so far via e-mail.

When you examine the symbol under a glass, there is a faint circle around the figure.

    usgicollector,

I'm beginning to think this thing is the "mark of the beast." No one I've talked to can dope it out for me. My son is acquainted with Scott Duff through his re-enactment activities, so I'm going to try and have him get Scott to take a look at it.

Here are a few more. You can see the IO Inland mark with the ordnance bomb and cross-cannon cartouche in the slingwell.

Still looking for the significance of the crescent shaped mark. Any ideas????

    Range master,
    I'm thinking the same thing............
Did we see it on the left front ring on a receiver, that someone posted?

Wondering if it could have been on our fellow members Bavarian, Commercial...etc web site?

    Regards
