    PAL 10" Marking Question

Curious about the numbers on the obverse side of a PAL 10" bayonet.

Why is the scabbard green painted at the top?

    Thanks.

The scabbard was made by Victory plastics and they made all kinds of that sort of thing. I'm not sure but I think the number is a drawing number not a serial number. I don't think PAL tool serially numbered their blades.

I have a PAL 10" M1icon bayonet and it is not serialized. My scabbard metal parts are also painted green.

I think if you take a closer look at you Pal bayonet you'll find that the standard muzzle ring has been replaced with a much larger one. The seven-digit serial number is a give away. These bayonets were modified for use with the Argentineicon BM59 rifle. It will still fit an M1icon but the muzzle ring will be way too large. Check around the mouth of the scabbard. The scabbards were originally numbered to the bayonets.
