Great! the world is a safer place...

Thanks to our good friends at the UN and the "Safer Africa" group. Now all those M1icon garands and WW1 era (and earlier) Viterlies and Carcanos won't be killing innocents with all the nonexistent obsolete ammo that isn't floating around Africa.

interesting that I count less than 20 AK's and SKS's combined. Guess those are clearly not threatening enough to be well represented at the "bonfire for safety"

I feel safer already, don't you?

Well, it seems to me that the record in Africa shows that a disarmed populace is just the next massacre or revolution waiting to happen.

I'm sure the stats will show it's a much safer place after this meaningless gesture.

How many people will now die because they can no longer protect themselves. All so that a bunch of sickening, misguided politicians and their incredible snobby followers can feel better. You all know the type, the ones looking down there nose at us. And the saddest part of all, for most of them they they still feel they themselves can be armed because they are of a better class. They could care less about the funds they may have generated may have fed some of there starving population if they truly just don't want firearms around. Its the bigger picture that make me crazy, the loss of personal freedom.

I carry many scar's from the riots of the 1960's, in one case nearly got blown up via, IED in a garbage can of all things, I got lucky and only lost a piece of calf mussel and have had five spine surguries in part due to some of this mayhem. Much later in life I saw the tragedy of 9/11 up close and personal while going for a drive to get another MRI on my spine, I even had a view of the towers burn from a Madison, NJ medical center. I know very well first hand what happens when the social structure takes a hike and you are not able to defend yourself. Collectible or Saturday night special, they can all be of use if they need be. Those people starting that bomb fire are burning the only thing that someday can keep them free. Sorry for the rant, but this type thing brings my blood to a blue boil. The people behind this mentality are self serving, truly ignorant individuals who know nothing of the rising of mankind-SDH

Well put. For many, like myself, its hard to put into words our thoughts when shown such idiocracy and utter ignorance. But I think you summed it up quite nicely.

Yes, well put. I usually degenerate into long intricate strings of expletives when I have to talk about stuff like this.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, The UN is nothing more than a meeting place for negotians between the most powerful international criminals. They only do what's good for themselves, they consider people as commodities or collateral, to be used or discarded at a moments whim. So far, North America has been relatively safe, other than drug and property crime. That's probably because it's also the dumping ground for 85% of the worlds illicet drugs. Yeah Right, governments aren't involved in the international drug trade. bearhunter

There is a saying that I heard recently, it goes like this:
"People who beat there swords into plowshares, will be plowing for those who don't"
I tend to believe that there is peace, but only through superior firepower
