    Rock island

Greetings group: Have a few questions about a Rock Island 03. Were the RI's ever used as national match guns? Did they all have grasping groove stocks? Were they ever fitted with pistol grip stocks? I have Rock Island with an RA- FJA stock and a SA-42 barrel would this indicate a WW-2 rebuild or bubba refit?----Thanks for any info---Turk

Yes, there were some NM RIA's, which performed very well, if not better, than the SA rifles. It is an interesting story within itself, as there was some armory vs armory conflicts over the matter. The RIA NM rifles did indeed have GG stocks.

As for the C stocked RIA's and your particular rifle, I will give the floor to others. There were some RIA's with original barrels in that date range if I remember correctly, but since my memory really sucks, I will allow others to elucidate.

    Smile RIA like yours

I have an RIA with an SA-42 barrel and an FJA stock, it's obviously a WWII rebuild.
