I'm needing ID on a couple of buttplates and rather than start a new thread, I decided to ask my questions on this older one. I thought "Tired Retired" did a nice job with his explanations and the buttplates I have in question are much like one of those shown above. In my first picture, the plate on the left is one I just bought on eBay advertised as late Inland-SG. After I received it, and compared it to the plate next to it in the picture, I've just about decided that the two are the same (late Winchester) - what do you guys think? The second picture is from another eBay auction, both plates listed as "unidentified." I'm guessing that these two plates are probably both late Inland-possibly correct for SG, even though they aren't identical. I'm trying to find one that's right for an S'G' but one for an SG is close enough. Any help with postive ID on those pictured would be greatly appreciated. - Thanks, Bob

    Sorry it took so long

    On USGI's buttplates,

The two identical ones are Winchester Late. The two different ones are IBM (Left) and Winchester Early (right). Highlighted areas are what was found to be uniquely matching. I used both the Chestnut Ridge site and Riesch's book. I can not see the dots in War Baby! well enough to count them.

    Hope that Helps
