    does anyone know where to find the s/n on a musket/trap door conversion?

    1866 Trap Door

    According to Dick Hosmericon's book the 1866 Rifle did not have any serial

    On the Model 1866 Musket conversion there is no serial number.
    The next model M1868 had a number stamped on the barrel and receiver opposite the lock-plate.
    The next model M1870 had no serial number stamped on the gun.
    Serial number resumed on the Model 1873 Trapdoor series

    Model 1866 and Model 1870 trapdoors have no serial numbers. Any numbers found will be inventory or rack numbers.
