    Bait and Switch

I think the sight that I was bidding on was the real deal. What was sent however was not that sight.... The "S" had a nice straight "squareness" to it, inside and out.

I will be contact my postal inspector and pursuing a mail fraud claim as I paid with a Postal Money Order - I hope I hear from the seller before I have to proceed with this process.

    ES,

I strongly recommend that you go back to the exact webpage that you were viewing when you placed your bids. Save the entire page, especially the pictures, to a separate disk that you can hand to a law enforcement officer. The issue here is not that your part is fake, the issue is that the part that was advertised and you bid on was not the exact part that was sent to you. The fact that it is fake is irrelevant since the one in the picture may be a fake also... you paid for the one in the picture and that is the one you are legally entitled to.

Same thing happened to me a couple years ago. Same seller from what I'm assuming. Different part than pictured. Wasn't worth the effort to persue a $45 part though. Chalked it up to lessons learned. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

It's a good repro, but nothing more. Nice pics, too.

I think it would be worth persuing.

If nothing else to ebay as a fraud seller. Show the listed part then the part sent. They are supposed to look into those.

They have kicked sellers off before.

When you go in and look at all the auctions he has listed, there does not appear to be too much bidding activity.

    - change it back -

Milling marks on the one pictured in the GB auction, look nothing like the one you have.
The one shown in the GB auction you bid on was also a Repro, but clearly not the one you received.

He carefully skirts around the items being described as a WWII issued part.
In your case....No return policy is offered or denied per the auction description. That does leave a gray area that GB may help you with.

"This is mint original worn finish" Which could mean USGI spec finish.
" Nice condition and the flip works properly" .... Makes no claims to it being authentic.
One error on his part may be........
"Please see our other original parts @ www.carbineparts.com"

Here's an example of a Type I band that he sold. Buyer left feedback. Same TYPE item is listed again with no mention of using file photos, just the same GENERIC pictures. Look back thru his feedback and current items. You'll find countless items with the same pictures being used time and again.
    Crooked is just plain crooked.

    SOLD......

    RE-listed, same pictures.......
    M1 Carbine unmarked 3 weld type 1A band : Other at GunBroker.com
