Here's another photo of my Dad carrying a M1 carbine in WW2. This one was taken in Normandy, June 1944.
He's the guy on the left carrying a carbine. The guy on the right is a friend and the guy in the center is a Chaplain!
He was a FO for the 47th reg of the 9th Infantry Division but was frequently assigned to other units, as needed.
They are standing on a German pillbox that he had just destroyed with naval gunfire.
He passed away last April at the age of 93.
