    USN Ka-Bar

    Hello everyone,
This is my first time posting here and I just had a question or two about a Ka-Bar i've had for quite some time now. I got this from my father many years ago and never really gave it much thought until recently. On one side of the blade is marked Ka-Bar the opposite side USN MK-2. I've done some looking on the internet but did not realize how many different styles/ models there were. How can I go about getting a positive id on this and a possible time frame. Thanks for any input.

tcarn70-Let's start here. Is the blade blue? Does the handle have red spacers in front of the guard? Or is the blade parkerized(gray)? Does the handle have spacers, red, or black? SKIP

    tcarn70,

Leather or plastic scabbard? How is it marked.

Can you post a picture of the knife and scabbard?

I have an Edge Mark Pro Thro knife made in the '70s in Solingen that looks alot like that, only the end of the tang is more of a flared tab, not a ring. As the name implies, it was made as a throwing knife...albeit a rather small one (mine is 7 3/4" OA with about a 4 1/2" blade, including integral guard). Can't see anything like it being military issue, but stranger things happen. What are the dimensions of your knife?

I am only into U.S. knives, but it sure looks that Germanicon boot knife. Same handle, sharpening line, and blade shape.
