    HRA question,please

Was at the CMPicon North Store yesterday and purchased HRA serial#5657xxx (service grade) in spectacular condition!!! MW .75.Only parts not HRA are bolt and op rod! MY question is about the windage knob.Every HRA I looked at (40 plus rifles)- serial #'s ranged from 4.4 mil thru end of prod.- had DRC windage knobs. Not one HRA-W.Is it possable HRA used DRG knobs on M-1s. Sorry if this is a retorical question.

Everything I have read has said there was a mix of HRA and DRC windage knobs used and in fact the armorer at the SS said it was correct as well. My SG is like yours; in fact it was EXACTLY like yours until I traded the SA bolt and op rod for HRA parts

Yes, in fact there is an outstanding article in the current GCAicon Journal (Garandicon Collectors Association). Early production HRA's used SA parts to speed up production. CMPicon Forum has a very long thread on this subject. Basically Correct HRA rifles were sanitized by the CMP to contain all HRA parts. They did this because collectors were returning them because it was never documented before about the SA parts in early HRA production. Based on what has been learned, that very well could be a correct DRC knob to your HRA rifle.

Hunt down the current edition if you can, it's a great read on this very question.

I firmly believe the DRC windage knob is both original AND correct for your rifle. I would NOT change it, but that's just my opinion.

My HRA 5640xxx has both the HRA-W and HRA (elevation) knobs. Mine was sold as a service grade from the south store but all parts are HRA except the butt plate (2S-Winchester).

MY 5.6 HRA also has HRA Knobs on both sides. If anyone wants to trade a DRC for my extra HRA-W knob let me know, it is a medium/ dark grey original park. I have an SG SA with this HRA-W windage knob that needs a DRC.

It will open up a lot more rifles to correct, or corrected status since the GCAicon article has gone mainstream.

I have 5631XXX w/DRC (CMPicon Special original HRA with CMP stock) and 5656XXX has HRA-W (collector).
