    My Johnson M-1941 Rifle

This is my Johnson M-1941 Rifle.

I've had it since 2004. I bought it from a Sydney gun shop and paid AU$1200 for it.

Bob Lamoreaux has confirmed that numbers on the various parts of this rifle match the entry for this rifle in the Johnson Automatics Mfg. Co. Production Log. i.e that this rifle is in original condition with the exact parts it actually left the factory with.

I suspect that this rifle was not Winfield Arms corp. rifle and has not left Australiaicon since the war. Hence the numbers match the production log.

The receiver was received from Cranston Arms 10/20/1941 and it was assembled and transferred to the Netherlands Purchasing Commission on that same date.

I would say you have a very hard to beat rifle there. Mine was a mixmastger of part numbers. Some say they're only assembly numbers not matched to the gun. My barrel was exellent and the wood passable. I had the same damage on the sides next to the magazine but I managed to do a repair that matched and it looked great. I also procured a bayonet with original scabbard. The neat part about yours is the possibility it never left Austrailia since the Marine unhanded it. It would be interesting to find out what area and base and timeframe it came from.
    Regards, Jim
