1903a3 bolt compared to 1903A4 sniper bolt

Can someone post a picture or two showing a side by side comparison of the bolts. I got the scope mount mounted, just need to see what the difference in the bolts is. is it just a thinner bolt handle to clear the scope bell on the M-73, or is it ground/cut for clearance.

    thanks in advance

Not just thinner, reshaped in several dimensions.

    Another view

Side by side of A4 vs Remington A3
The A4 handle was basically forged to a different shape then finished by grinding/polishing the handle.

thanks all for the pictures. I was wondering if I could just thin the handle on a regular 03a3 bolt but obviously the are forged/bent differently. got my 03a3 A4 Repro wearing a Weaver K-4 with higher rings right now till I figure out how/what Im gonna do for the bent bolt so I can mount the M-73 repro scope.

You can see how much closer to the centerline of the bolt that the root of the bolt handle is. That is why there is a cutout in the stock for the 03A4 bolt.

Noonanda..you can probably modify a standard bolt to provide enough clearance for use with a Weaver 330 series or even a Lyman Alaskan. Exactly duplicating or even coming close to the profile of an original is fairly challenging piece of work.

You could buy a bolt already modified for scope use for less money than you would spend having someone ( a SKILLED someone) alter yours.
