Pattern 1907 bayonet reproduction

I thought that a bayonet might be an interesting (if useless) accessory to my No 1 Mk 3 Enfield, and the below company markets what is purportedly a decent reproduction (or "fake", "knockoff", etc., depending on your point of view).

I take it for what it is - a Chinese or Indian made copy with copied markings, but some have lamented the fact that these could be sold to the unsuspecting/uneducated as the genuine article. I really doubt that any surviving 1907 bayonets would appear as mint as this one, but who knows?

So are the fakes really getting that good or is it just more Internet hyperbole?

I have seen Hooked Quillion 1907's from 1908 that look like they just left the factory. So mint isnt a guide to it being fake. Most of the Trials blades for the 1907 I have seen are devoid of markings and are as good as the day they were made, one acquaintance had a good dozen or more

On a similar theme Slater, My friend now has TWO former/ex quillion pattern 1912 or so bayonets where you can clearly see where the quillion has been rather roughly cut off in accordance with the instructions of the day. One has obviously been through the browning process afterwards as it's browned the same as the rest of the bayonet (all the old browning a bit thin now of course.....) but the uneven cut and file marks are there for all to see. Clearly no one would copy or fake this but it's interesting just as it's from the other side of the coin!

Can anyone tell me why a 1907 bayonet may not have a oil hole in the pomel?

These were not added until 1915/16 as they were not deemed to be needed. I suppose complaints from mud filled trenches showed that having the cleaning hole for the slot was needed if people wnated to be able to fit the bayonet to their gun. Rmember the hole is for cleaning not oiling - a common mis conception - there is nothing there that needs oiling

This is my first Post and seeing the post regarding fake 1907 Hook Quillion bayonets I have posted one of my own real ones.
The Idea of the hook was copied from the Japanese tpe 30 Arisaka Bayonet and was designed to entangle an opponents bayonet when fighting and twisting the rifle to then break the other's blade. It was not practical so in 1913 an order was given for the removal of the Hook Quillion. India and Australia still continued to manufacture them up until 1914 and 1915.
Some of the fakes out there are origional bayonets witth added Quillions but post 1913 issue stamps (If British they are wrong)

Some of IMA's stuff is good and some not so good. You would have to order and see for your self. I doubt their copies would really fool any of us with hands on experience. We would be suspicious for sure.

Attachment 16476Wilkinson dated 5 '09 scabbard marked AC (A. Cooper) and dated 1911. Bayonet is stamped D T over R. 389 (could be 39th Foot Dorsetshire)

Just for the thrill, a genuine Australian one. I also have an RFI made one that would have been a hooker but has had it removed so tempted to restore it
