    New 95 Chilean Mauser

This seems to be my month for Chileanicon Mausers. I glommed this 1895 Chilean Mauser at an on-line sale yesterday. The pics aren't that good (auction listing pics), but I'll post better when it arrives:

    Auction description advised:

walnut stock - blue retains 90%+ - wear at muzzle - Chilean Crest crisp - all visible numbers match, oil finish stock - visible cartouche marked 1896 - painted "25" below rear sling

Will post better pics and a range report when it arrives

    Thanks, Badger

How does your 95 shoot? Do you handload for it and if so, have any favorite loads?

Are all 95 Chileno's antique? If not, is there a serial number cut off for the antique 95's?

    Thanks, Steve

Since the rifle was manufactured by Ludwig Loewe in Berlin, it was built before 1898. By 1898 Loewe had joined the Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) conglamerate, and all of Loewe's rifles were manufactured under the DWM banner. I think that was around 1896 or so. Although DWM produced a small number of firearms between then and 1898, it is probably next to impossible to detrmine an exact manufacturing date.
