Need Help on 1911 A1

I am resurrecting this thread as it looks like I will be buying or trading for this 45 soon. it looks like it's 99% sure deal. I know it's basically a shooter and not sure if its a armory rebuild with no armory rebuild marks and it has a series 70 barrel in it but he says he has the original but it has a threaded end (silencer??)who knows? I may try to find a correct barrel but no rush. Any advice on the barrel is appreciated.

oh I'm offering a good trade but what kind of dollar amount would I put on this?

Also if this is a rework of some kind is the ordnance wheel in the first picture top left corner of the lower a Springfield stamping or is that common on Rem rand lowers? The book says consider price as poor if not armory rebuild marked. My thought is it is a refinished as the wear is really a repark that has the markings faded for the lack of the right word. And I would think they would stamp it after park job so I'm confused, but eager to know as much as I can.

The crossed cannons ordnance mark was applied when the pistol was newly manufactured, and indicates acceptance by ordnance.

Any barrel made during WWII would be proper for a rebuild. The barrel in the pistol now may have been threaded for a compensator, but I doubt a silencer.

Since you will be out the price of a barrel, I would think that $750 would be top money for the pistol.

The crossed cannons was the Ordnance acceptance mark beginning in late 1941, and was on virtually all of the small arms produced in WWII. For some reason the 1911A1 produced by Union Switch & Signal did not have the acceptance mark.

I got the Colt/Rem Rand (in the pics) back and what the owner says is the barrel it came with. the only mark on the barrel is a "c" in a box. Most came with the COLT .45 AUTO on the barrel so I wasn't sure. I did some searching and colt did use the "c" in 1945. Perhaps this was used when they reworked this 1911?

The barrel has been in his tool box in the hot humid garage in Florida for 10 years but it cleaned up nicely. The only problem I see is it has been internally threaded at the muzzle by the guy with the tool box (a guy that doesn't have a collectors mind if you know what I mean).
He did think that maybe he should have used the series 70 barrel for his shall we say experiment. I'm working on him.
