    Dating Unopened Ammo??

I'd like to get appropriate period boxes of unopened USGI ammo for display purposes. Is there a way to know what ammo period is without opening it?

Check the back of Scott Meadows new book. He has pictures of military ammo which would probably help narrow it down.

It would appear the box you have pictured has been labeled twice ?????

That ammo box was resealed with a second label. Some of those boxes I've seen opened had all matching headstamps, while others did not.

Apparently the original seal on the boxes did not hold. Some lots of ammo got mixed up. I think the boxes were probably repacked and sealed sometime in the mid-1930's, if I recall correctly.

I think I still have some of those boxes around. There was a bunch of it sold on the Internet a few years ago.
