Need help installing the green followers

So, I bought some of the recommended green followers. How the heck do I install them? I've disassembled/assembled the 20 round magazines before, but these green followers have a long front appendage which prevents the normal process of inserting the follower in the magazine body. No instructions came with the follower package. Thanks for any assistance.

It's a side to side wobble to get them in.

If you're gonna buy followers, just get the Magpuls. Best AR15/M16icon follower on the planet! Whilst the "green followers" may be marginally better than the old black 30rd ones, they will still allow rounds to nose dive far more than the Magpul design.

BTW, the old metal followers in the 20 round mags are generally perfectly OK. Plus, the bottom metal attaches differently, making the swap problematic.

OK, so the green followers with the long guide are for the 30 rounders. I was wondering about the metal tab that is riveted at the bottom edge. Thanks for the information.

Yah, the "improved" green followers aren't made for the 20 round mags! The need for the improvements to followers went up w/ the introduction of the 30 round mags NOT made by Colt in the early days, AND with the increasing use of carbine length weapons. The shorter the barrel the more "violent" the operating cycle, leading to rounds nose diving during feeding.

I rarely have functioning issues w/ the 20rd'ers until the feed lips actually wear out from the inside.
