A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Well with just a cursory glance i would say the stock is a WW2 replacement and the TG seems to have been replaced with an 03-A3 magazine box assembly.

    $500. would be more realistic.

    Regards,

    Jim

Don't forget that it has been secured in a gun safe since it's purchase from a military collector in August of 2000. Hard to put a value on that.

Obviously you guys didn't notice that it comes 'WITH SLING'

I think the seller actually thinks he has a prize rifle.

We will be seeing it at the local gunshow for $550.00 next weekend. Guys put junk on these auction sites just looking for that one certain sucker. Happy hunting.

    Usual reasons:

    1) "My friend says this rifle is worth a LOT of money"

    2) They got taken when they bought the rifle and have to get their money out of it

    3) A charter member of the IOTOS Club ("It only takes one sucker")

I used to see a guy at the gunshows in Wash/Oregon area some years back. He would have 1-2 items on his table for crazy money. I recall the top end of a GI M1911A1, barrel and slide. $2000.00(Remington-common parts) for it, he had it for several shows and finally sold it. People would ask about his stuff and he would always say it was uncommon and worth the price. You really only need one fool to make a good gunshow. Let the buyer beware.
