Value of last ditch Arisaka Toyo Kogyo Series 35

    Hi Guys!!

I am new to the forum. This site looks great. I recently aquired a Japaneseicon 7.7 Rifle that appears to be a last ditch. The serial number is 55949. From what I can tell it is a Toyo Kogyo Series 35 and has the Mum intact, 2 piece stock with a wooden buttplate. From what I can see it is all matching and is in great shape ( may not believe me but it still has heavy grease in the action and a super bore). The back of the bolt has the rough weld as does the barrel bands. The stock as a few dings and dents but no cracks or splits. I picked this up from an elderly gentleman who served in WWII with the 11th Airborne and was with the Army Occupation of Japan after WWII. He said the rifle was not a battlefield pickup but that he removed the rifle from a crate of several dozen rifles before they were to be destroyed. As soon as I figure out how to resize the photos I will post some pics. Anyone have a general idea what this would be worth. Thanks!!

    Photos first!

    Planetary location would help too!

Even then, prices are not fixed in stone! At this point we're at somewhere between US$100 and 400... and that's subject to change for no good reason. It's like art. Since the values aren't based on utility, it doesn't make sense, nor is it supposed to.

Your rifle was made in the last week of the war just before the bomb. I have one just like you describe that is 579 rifles later than yours. supposedly there were 1200 35's made in August. I would value it at about $400 - depending on who wants it and who knows what it is. This is not a last ditch rifle as it is very well made, its a transition rifle and better quality that the last few Nagoya series. riceone

Thanks for the info riceone!! I was never into Japaneseicon Firearms pieces. I am more into the US pieces. Hated to do it but posted it on gunbroker Auction # 200995887 . Economy is slow and I am getting too old to continue to try and hang onto everything. Again, thanks for the info!!
