Removing the Nut, Recoil Plate Bolt:
P7 is on the right track.
Leather or thick cardboard with a hole the size of the nut. Then a piece of tube with an inside diameter just over the size of the nut. Then washers to take up the distance the the recoil plate nut head, screwed in from the bottom. As you screw it in, the nut will be pulled out and the pressure from the tube to the sides of the wood will keep it from chipping out.

The puller method would be great, except Larry's problem was that the threads in the nut were stripped out. Trying to tap the nut might turn the nut in the stock. He had to do the punch it out method.....Frank
