"Man at Arms Magazine", Vol. 32, No. 6, 2010

See "Man at Arms" magizine Vol. 32, No. 6, 2010

Not sure this is the most current "Man at Arms" or not, as it is not always available in my area. If this information has already been posted, sorry, but the article is to good to miss.

Nine page article "Collecting the M1icon Garand, A Practical Guide for beginners" by Bob Seijasicon.

Very good history of the M1 Garand, the GCAicon and CMPicon, along with nice photos. This article is not only for "beginners", anyone with an interest in the M1 Garand will enjoy this article and, most likely, learn something new.

I hope so, Rick , it was in the draft -- thanks I haven't seen it in print yet, am waiting eagerly for my magazine to arrive.

It's interesting that Man At Arms is adjusting its focus to include more current collecting interests. The publisher asked for a basic article on collecting the M1icon, and when I asked him how long he wanted it, he said, "About eight pages." Yikes! But that amount of space reduced the number of things I had to leave out.

On the top of page 18 there are two photos, comparing a fake SA/GHS and Ordnance escutcheon to an original. It is noted "Photos courtesy of Rick Borecky and John Holbrook". I would say that this is the most extensive article devoted to the M1icon Garand that I have seen in any magizine. Very well done with nice clear photos.

If you don't subscribe to "Man at Arms" I see that they have a deal on back issues. If you buy two back issues you get a third for free. I would recommend three issues :
    1.) Vol. 32, No. 6 2010 - "Collecting the M1 Garand" by Bob Seijasicon
2.) Vol. 32, No. 4 2010 - " The Danishicon Garand GV/50" By Bert van der Molen 5 pages with photos
3.) Vol. 31, No. 4 2009 - " The "Red Star" Remington Model 1903 Rifles" by John Beardicon and Terrell Mullins 9 pages

To order call 800-999-4697 or visit Man At Arms Magazine for the Gun and Sword Collector

And no, I have no affiliation with the magazine, in fact I don't even subscribe, but I did buy the three magazines named above. Well worth the $ 10.00 or so.

I just went on the "Man at Arms" web page and see that they only list 2009 and earlier as available back issues but I think if you call you can get the current issue. I was able to purchase Vol. 31, No. 4, 2009 in 2009 via telephone.
