Price check: Mauser FR-8 in 7.62 Nato

I'm just curious what the average price range for an unmatching Mauser FR-8 in 7.62 Nato.

Also, what would the value difference be for one that is all matching?

My '55 FR 8 ran me $400, all matching in excellent condition w/sling and the bayonet, just picked up a '47 FR 8 for $250, number matching metal work, but it is in a FR 7 stock.

Prices I've seen $350/450 in real good shape matching, have not seen any for sale unmatching, but would say maybe $250/350 around my area.

I've noticed some chambered in 7.62 nato, and some chambered in 308win.

Any story behind these two different models? Any suggestions on which might hold better value if either?

These rifles were originally designed to shoot the 7.62mm NATO cartridge, both mine are stamped 7.62mm, never seen one stamped .308win. The .308win and 7.62Nato cartridges are almost identical on the exterior dimension, but a Nato case is made slightly thicker and holds slightly less powder. I have also used .308win low recoil commercial ammo and .308Wolf and Silver Bear without issues.

If you find one stamped .308 win, I don't think it would effect it's value that much. Since your in Canadaicon (and this is just purely a guess), some may be stamped .308win, because 7.62Nato is a military cartridge, where as .308win is deemed a commercial cartridge.

The rifles were designed to shoot the Spanish CETME round. The cartridge has the same dimensions of 7.62X51 NATO. But uses a lighter bullet for less recoil in the CETME issue Rifle to the Spanish Military. This to enhance full auto control. i have some of the surplus ammo and it is very pleasant to shoot in the FR7/8. Gary
