    BREN; fixed line sight

I know a few of the fixed line sights exist among the Bren fraternity but does anyone have a set of the training notes? I DON'T mean pages 42/3, lesson 19 of the 1939 Small-Arms Training Pamphlet No4, volume 1.

I have just uncovered the amended notes dated March 1940 that update the original hurried instructions. These updated instructions were only detailed in the Weapon Training Memorandums and not the SAT's because the sight was withdrawn shortly afterwards.

    Anyone want the details?

There's a big spiel about the fixed line sights in the forthcoming book but not the actual setting up. Because of the sheer size of the book, I had to avoid mission creep like the plague. Incidentally, because of this avoiding mission creep aspect, this book is about the Bren and only mentions the ZB's and ZGB's in respect to the trials. It does touch on the ZB39 (the Czechicon made .303" Bren for want of a better name) but as I mention in the foreword somewhere, if you need to know about that you'd better read something else.

If you've got Appendix C, pages 9 to 12 of Weapon Training Memo No1 dated 8-3-40, yes. It'll save me a job

Right, I'm off to set the FLS up and see if I can put some rounds into RAF Cranwell, its only 3 miles away.

Speaking of the FLS, perhaps we should start a thread on this site to collect more serial numbers of existing sights to augment the ones already listed on the Weapons on line forum. We may net a few more numbers from sights that are still hiding.
