    Ross M1910 markings

Didn't want to hijack an old thread, so here are some markings of a M1910 Ross Rifle:

As I'm new to those rifles, can someone tell me something about that rifle?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Georg

The rifle shows both Canadianicon markings and markings indicating Indian service. Is the rifle a DP (drill purpose) rifle by chance? Dewated thanks to big holes being drilled laterally through the metal and a corresponding divot on each side of the stock?

The Canadian markings: the circular mark under the H and ISP is the Ross factory roundel. To the right of that should be a III (under the 43) indicating it's a Mark III Ross. The 76 over 1917 and the LE (?) constitute the rifle's factory serial number.

I can't speak to the KKD, but the H, ISP, ESA and 219 would all appear to be marks applied when this Ross (one of a bunch) was taken into service in India.

Based on my exposure to similar rifles, it looks like the stock's been cleaned up a bit. Any more pictures?

No, it's no DP rifle. This was one of the first pictures I got for that rifle, will recieve it on Thursday and make further pictures. I do believe it's been sanded, but we'll see.

Interesting that those rifles were also used in India, didn't knew that.

Someone else will know what the white paint was all about.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    That's how she shoots:

Five shots at a distance of 200m, the small "plus" are the hits (it's a printout due to eletronic targets). And yup, the last one was my fault.
