Results of 30-round Korean Magazine Test

I purchased a number of the Korean made 30-round magazines back in Fall of 2009. Not knowing how the spring would hold up over time, I decided a long term test was in order. In November 2009 I loaded one 30 round magazine and placed in it the back of my safe. I would occasionally handle and move the mag, but I did not unload or reload it across the last 15 months. I took the loaded magazine to the range on Thursday, January 26, 2011, for a test firing. It worked flawlessly with no misfeeds or jams. I was surprised that even the last round slid into the chamber with no issues.

Ok, there you guys have it - I fully endorse the Korean-made, brown paper wrapped magazines for non-collecting purposes.

    General Info:
One New Korean-made 30-rd mag marked “UU” removed from wrapped in November 2009
30 rounds of factory fresh (2009) Remington 110 gr FMJ ammo
One fire-rated gun safe with goldenrod plus silica cans
One IBM carbine (rack-grade) manufactured in October 1943
One paper target with 30 freshly punched holes

Seriously, I wish I could find pistol mags this dependable at $10 a pop!

Well, you finally found a good dependable use for those Korean made mags Ed - (Storing 30 rounds of ammo)

I tried a similar pressure test on my wife's Siamese-made cat last week -
Parked my truck's left front tire on it overnight and the cat has no more feed problems either.

    Just kidding kikokat! (John)

She really did have a fugly looking cat that I named 'Bulls-eye' -

The perfect cat. (It came with a target installed on it!)

    Hi Jim,

Yes, that's an older photo and those were the first three milsurps I bought, then a K98icon.
Carbines have always my favorite. My first three were a Rockola, IBM, and an Inland.
(Guess I was lucky to find a couple other makes than Inland since most carbines are Inlands)

I used to keep most in my big safe bolted to a wall in the master bedroom walk-in closet and rotate a few out to that old antique gun cabinet. I was always paranoid keeping any in that antique cabinet and I have a cable bolted to the wall behind the cabinet to at least slow down a break and grab situation.
(Sad the times we live in)

Eventually I had 8 carbines, mostly mixmasters but I was hoping to someday get at least one from each maker. I thought they'd be more secure in the gun safe, but safes are only safe when you're the only person who knows the combo.

Dammit Jim! See what you did? (Now I'm gonna have to go kick that cat!)

Curious, if not one problem, why order wolfe springs?
