    Hypothetical New Garands

Hypothetically speaking. Is it possible to find new never been issued Garands in 2 cases in original cosmolineicon. Don't know how many or if they exist, but friend said a friend(neighbor he saw daily)of his had some, but that neighbor recently passed away. I know nothing about them though plans were being made to clean them and sell them. I was told they were brand new but he did not know anything about dates or even make. I told him,(hypothetically)that he needs to get on it but was told it's too early still. This friend knows what a M1icon Garand is since I sold his fathers for him in 2008(at that time he did not know but I educated him on Garands)Even though I was only learning myself. I guess time will tell, but my luck has been good lately, though it sounds to good to be true.

Anything is possible I suppose. They are few and very, very far between though. Hum, is the $50K offer still out there for a new, in the crate WWII jeep???

Yes, CMPicon did bring back many new, unissued Garands. They are around.

In the summer of 07 I saw a new SA/ NFR that had come out of the CMPicon some time before - not a mark on it - quite a gem

    CMP Unissued

I saw them while at the South Store a few months back. I would actually prefer the Correct or Collector grades to the unissued. They looked VERY VERY Dry ( The stocks). I cant imagine it a good thing for the stocks to have had NO attention, over 50 plus years, to be a good thing.

My guess would be they are not new since they are in cosmo.I f they were new I would think they would be wrapped with no cosmo and the cosmo ones would be rearsenaled ones.Just a guess on my part,I could be wrong. If your buddy decides to buy one I would check it out very closely first

yes the presence of heavy cosmolineicon seems to indicate rebuilds. But if they can be had for much reduced price and i'm not picky when it comes to surplus garands. as long as they are below surplus prices. If we find a gem or two then tat much the better.

I was a volunteer at the CMPicon about 5-6 years ago and was involved with uncrating and serializing some of the Garands returned from Greece. In some crates there were rifles still in the wrap just as they left the factory. I'd count those as "new, never issued".
