A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Don't worry, I suspect the assembler of the gun will likely be at the auction to make sure it goes for his required price. If this is the rifle I think it is, when I saw it last it was a scopeless Brit rifle in Canadianicon wood.

A few years back, everything in this neck of the woods (manitoba) ended up going to Bud Haynes auction in Alberta. I kind of wondered why other auctioneers were not getting in on the act. McSherrys had a large estate of firearms and ammunition commisioned to them, and they were very surprised at how high the prices went. Actually, so were we.....a lot of the stuff was way above market price, even before the fees etc were factored in. Since then, McSherrys has made it a regular event, and a few other auctioneers in the province have joined into the business as well.

A few gems show up, but as well there are a few pricey fakes tossed into the mix as well. If you are going to send proxy bids on any of this stuff, do your homework, and see if you can find someone here in Manitoba to look the gun over for you.

    Provenance

You are correct SC, that is the one we have seen several times over the last few years. Same source as the fake 50's serial #d M1C, put together 91/30 sniper and Russianicon capture 98k with ZF43 scope. Seller bid the fake M1C to over $2000 and bought the K98icon back when it didn't go higher than $800.
