barrel removal of remington mod 30

I have just purchased a remington mod 30 action. the barrel is totally worn out and I'm thinking of re barreling it back to 30-06. I've never removed a barrel before and some pointers would be greatly appreciated. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    A.T.

I would tell you to take it to a reputable shop. First you would need a barrel vise and and action wrench for the removal and if you are going to put a new barrel on you need reamer to finish and headspace gages all of this could easily be $200.00 - $300.00 bucks. Alot easier and cheaper to have someone experienced to do it. I would contact CHUCKINDENVER on this forum.

Chuckindenver did my M1917 re-barrel job. Very tough job, as the barrels are on hard. Chuck is stupid cheap and very, very good.

Good advise. If you're inexperienced there are a lot of mistakes that can be made and they usually result in a fubar'd reciever.

Have you thought about re-boring the barrel into .35 Whelan?
