    Australian H barrel SMLE

I was watching this one on gunbroker.
Is this typical of markings on H barrel conversions?
What does the second serial # on the receiver and matching one on the butt mean?

Probably find the dear old thing has been disposed of at some time to civy street, hence the >s< but then struck out and a new serial number put on for ww2. As far as the heavy barrell is concerned she looks like it is a standard HV (high velocity) barrell, but as to it being a heavy well i havnt seen a heavy with HVSC stamped on it. Obviously a 3MD (third military district) weapon not sure on the CMP stamp, and cant tell when the barrell has been put on or replaced due to the date being obliterated. All up a nice piece of history with some beaut stamping. Maybe some other more knowledgeable person may be able to give you more of a heads up, sorry i couldnt be of more help.
    regards
