Question 91/38 Handguard / Barrel Band problem?

I have had this problem with every 91/38 I've ever had, but haven't found a way to fix it.

After shooting a few rounds from my Moisn the top hand guard always slips forward of the barrel bands.

Is there a good way to fix this problem?

I'm presuming here that you are having the barrel bands come loose and slide forward during recoil. If the barrel hands are staying in place and you just got a bit of movement in the handguard fore and aft I wouldn't sweat it over much. If it is indeed the barrel band springs that aren't grabbing, remove band springs from stock, tighten up the pin portion in a handy vise and slightly bend the spring nib out a bit further. That way the spring is gonna get a better bite on the barrel band.

    Good luck
