Parker Hale WE1 3/8" Rail on Aussie L1A1

Anyone know what the rings for this 3/8" scope rail should be.
Who might have them would be nice too.

Anoyone out there looking for an Ishapore L1A1, World Wide Arms in the UKicon have some that they are deactivating for the UK market but would export live for overseas buyers. I suppose I should have started this as a new thread really but seeing Diopters Ishapore reminded me...........

Just got an email back from someone I asked about this parker hale covered L1A1. He says, and I'm inclined to agree, that such a flimsy mount would have lasted about 20 seconds on an L1A1. When we had anything mounted onto a cover, it used to tear the cover up. Even the lightweight No74 scope used in some trials would tear away from the cover.

Is there anything to suggest that this has any 'official' sanction diopter? Any of the trials papers say anything NZL1A1 man?

Closest I can find, from UKicon and Commonwealth FALs Volume 2 by R.Blake Stevens

    Singlepoint SP231 mounting:

Not sure what to make of it myself. Have my doubts about it durable too.

Question is whether a military or police armorer, or a previous civilian owner did it.

I've had a look at the only report I have TD/RIFLE/5 20 Jan 75, which is a comparison trial between the SP 222 Singlepoint and the L2A1 SUIT sight. Unfortunately although there is a ton of tables, graphs and photos of various target ranges there are no images of the Singlepoint Sight and Mount. I think these might be contained in an earlier report that I don't have.

I think depending on the shade of gray paint it might be Belgiumicon army issue. The colour would need to be checked against something like a ABL marked SAFN49.

I would tend toward the mount being used with a Singlepoint type lightweight sight. According to the report the mounts for the trial were supplied by Enfield, if you check the mount can you find the Enfield logo on it?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh as an after thought it might be for use with the BSA Unisight? Its a tiny sight that would fit the 3/8 in. rail.

If you ever want to get rid of the mount I would be interested in it.

Not the same type of gray paint, or colo, compared to what I have in my collection:
FN 24/30 1950 ABL Naval .22lr Mauser trainer:

    Or ABL 30-06 FN49:

I haven't had the thing long enough yet. I'll let you know if I get tired of it.
Would you like to borrow it ?
I never thought of the possibility of a non-telescopic sight. Good idea.
