How uncommon are these?
Got this one on a carbine I traded for...

I do not think this one is a repop from our West Coast friend on the River Styxx. At least it is Inland, and not Winchester.

I think those are the originals...You lucky duck, they don't exist anymore. I don't even remember seeing one when I had carbines.

Can you tell us about the carbine it was on when you got it. Other part types and markings.

Lucky Duck is right!! --- My mentor brought me what appeared to be a standard CMP rebuild rifle. A Rock Ola receiver, with all late features, except this mag release. He said "You need this." I says "no, I've got several rifles like that." Not the rifle, he says, but the mag release. I'll give you this one if you'll give me a newer one in it's place!! I said fine, and just dug a newer release out of my parts bin.. Took the Type I out, and installed the newer one. That's pretty much the story.
I looked in an older version of Riesch's book I had laying around, and it wasn't shown, or at least not correctly... His newer book does show it.
On what vintage of Inland would this one be correct?

Up until around 40k for the W-I marked ones IIRC. I know the EI marked ones started before 20k and they were long smooth face.
