Smile 1st Annual Lakeside Fire Dist Watermelon destruction derby retro SP1 clone shines!

My son and his buddies put together a day of blasting and Bar-B-Q in the So-Cal desert in honor of my road trip to CA. I brought my Retro SP1 AR15 clone (with bullet button) and my VZ-58 and Siaga 7.62x39 with pre--bans and Kydex paddles. Nine people showed up with a plethora of Nija-ed out M4geries, 2 M1Aicon S0-COMS, A SPECTER 9MM, and a host of 9mm and 10mm handguns. Around 4,000 to 5,000 rounds were fired (I know because they gave this old man all the brass).

These guys are die-hard M4gery guys. Guess what two rifles got shot the most? My VZ-58 and my Retro SP-1 AR15 clone! Third was the retro shorty AR-15 I gave my son. The VZ went through about 400 rounds (all I brought) within short order. Mag dumps with it was popular, since they are not used to 30 rounders. ZERO malfunctions, and clay pigeons died regularly at 50-75 yards shooting off hand, even with the Kydex fin on the pistol grip. My poor restored Saiga only had one taker to shoot it! The

The SP1 alone fired about 1,500 rounds without a single hiccup. From a rest, I was killing clay pigeons at 100 yards. There were sometimes people two and three deep waiting to shoot the SP1 clone. Below is a link to a Picasa web album of the pictures. I'm the older guy in the blue T Shirt and camouflage NRA baseball cap with the big smile! The S&W 469 9mm I was wearing (my LEO CCW carry gun) was hands down the most accurate 9mm there. I was picking of empty shotgun shells at 15 yards with it. I confess I really liked the M1A you see me shooting!
