    CMP Garand

I received an M1icon Garand from the CMPicon this last year. It is a "Service Grade" but besides being being coated in oil it appears immacualte. It is a Springfield and the Serial Number is 5857718. This puts the gun at mid to late 50's right?

I believe that serial number should be from 1955. The CMPicon is the only way to go for a Garandicon purchase, they are almost always better than described.

If you ordered it, did you make any requests on what you wanted? Shooter, Springfield, walnut, etc.

Probably not oil but cosmolineicon for long term storage. Good news is that you learn so much about the guns when you have to take them completely apart to clean lube and reassemble. Bad news (not really) is that the cosmo may weep from your stock for a long time....
