Conversions ?
A serious question . When they converted some M1's to M2's, how did they deal with the trigger housing question ? I know about the hammers. For example, the notch for the nine spring ? Did they use M2 housings or alter M1 housings ? Pic shows an exaAttachment 22188mple I found with parts missing. Thanks. Mike.

Most of the time the M1 trigger housing was modifed to M2 if the housing was a solid machined unit and not a stamped and brazed one. But I have seen one of the stamped housings that had been modifed and was told it was done by the Koreans.

In military conversions up to five cuts may have been made. One under the hammer/ disconnector ( for breathing room ) , the right "wall " aft the mag well for the rocker , the recess in the front hole for the rocker pin ( not done a lot) , and two cuts to install and hold the 9-spring ( lot of non-milt conv. only have one of the two). The US did a lot , so did other govts , and some commercial outfits here did. Close examination of the quality of the work will give an indication of who might have done it. It would be best to examine a real one ( say a up-side-down house'd Inland).
