Like Kirk mentioned, join the GCA..Garand Collector's Association...$25/Year and it satifies one of the requirements for CMP purchases. Print the froms from the CMP website and send it in, then you are in business. If you live near one of the CMP stores, then you can visit and buy some rifles/ammo while you are there. 30-06 prices are going higher for sure. Even the "SPAM" cans of 196 rounds have an asking price of $250+ on GunBroker and other sites. Good luck.
