    Some thoughts-

1)How about a dedicated sub-thread just for target display? Keep 'em from getting lost in the chatter, diversions, huzzahs, and questions.

2)Should the target be scaled down for those shooting at 100 yards vs. 100 meters? 100m might be do-able by crossfiring, but that's not a real good option...!!!

3)To prevent modifications to original weapons that aren't readily capable of being zeroed at 100y/m (Eg.- a minimum sight setting of 200m or more) should there be allowed either a supplemental aiming point or a "virtual" set of scoring rings- Or maybe a catagory for group size only?

I'd like to see all sorts of weapons represented rather than just the usual suspects. Also don't want folk to feel it's another equipment race. I will NOT bed a decent "correct" or "original" rifle.

Gunner's set the bar pretty high! Iron sights to boot!

    Good thoughts,

Before I start putting everything in order just want to see if it will take off, will produce a table of all results in time (next week), as for the cards and pics, will prefare once it gets going to put these in, like you say a sub folder, ( at some point this wont be practical if there is a lot involved) need help with that one but will see what Doug has to offer.

The 100 mtr/ 100 yrd issue I,m not concerned it was to make it open for all worldwide milsurp owners and for whatever side of the rule you use, or your range is in.

Can indicate on the scoring the distance etc, if there is a big % of the two will draw up two tables for each distance

As for the weapons, I think I,ve covered nearly all ground regarding Milsurp rifles, plus the rules (not many of them) was to help out most who come up against a brickwall in certain comps, what you do with the target is down to the shooter, if you put this on a backing board and have an aiming point below etc then have no probs with that, as long as the target is the same size as quoted.

I will have similar probs with My swiss K11 the next few days but hope to come up with something.

As for equipment race, I certanly didnt intend for anything like that, I,ve seen many in my club go down the road of buying £2000-3000 rifles and then the £1000+ scope and they still cant hit a barn door, I get a lot of pleasure out of shooting an old milsurp with any ammo, and knowing it hasnt broke the bank, plus its not just the shooting, its the history behind it.

As for the bedding of rifles, I only said they would be allowed, am certanly not asking anyone to start bedding there pride an joy, it was more of a point that a friend had raised, regarding the issue.

Example: you buy a nice SMLE, Mauser etc, it shoots like a dream and at some point in time you may want remove the fore-end/ stock and you find it has been bedded, or had bearings made and fitted etc, then I don`t want anyone thinking they cant use it.

Again the idea behind it, was for anyone with a milsurp, whatever the size of rifle, make , action etc, to have a go.

If Gunner continues with cards like that, then the only option is to ban him from the comp

Just trying to defuse dramas and keep things as sane as possible- Not that ANY of this stuff is rational!

If you've no problems using supplemental aiming points, wonderful! I rooted about this morn for a few photo examples of rear sights that may benefit from their use:

No 100m settings on these! So, offset aiming points will be great!

Thats not a problem if it is allowed to be a bit teachy. First you shoot your rifle with the lowest distance ( 300m or 400m) at 100m aiming at your standard POA and measure out the difference in height between the POA and POI than hang out a second card at the measured height and aim at the lower one it works. It did with my Swissicon G11 which started at 300m.

Looks like a Gewehr 88 and the last one a Arisakaicon 99 with its AA-sights.

COUNT ME IN. This sounds like fun and something that I will start working on when I go to the range Tuesday morning.
    Take care all.
