Modified gas trap front sight, original on cylinder in photos. These front sights use to sell for around $1500 plus, with the ears removed, very difficult if not impossible to restore

Very sad to see. I have one that belonged to Mac. Haven't figured out what to do with it yet. As you said, very hard and expensive to restore.
Too bad it isn't a flared sight with either drawing number, I could use that one.

These pics make one jealous to the max. I had a chance to purchase a receiver in the 35000 range but didn't because trying to restore a gas trap in Canada would be a pipedream. I'm not even sure we have one here. Anyone????

first picture - middle one

second - barrel in front

thire - first on the left

Mark, the barrel in the center is an original gas trap barrel and marked D-28286 heat lot T-2,
the other two barrels had threaded sleeves installed then machined/threaded to fit the gas trap cylindersAttachment 23633
