I was a bit perplexed about this question............. IN the Britishicon Army, we never had Sterling mag pouches as such because we just carried our magazines in our bog standard ammo pouches - as our tame Triumph man GSimmons says quite rightly. To use these, you'll need two of them plus the belt and yoke too. Readily available on ebay. Look under '58 pattern webbing' or even '44 pattern webbing'

Stan, I take it yours is one of the Wiselite rebuilds of the original Sterling Mk VI? Or is it an original Sterling build?

I am thinking of buying one of these. Anyone with experience? I refer to the Wiselite builds.

In the Canadianicon Army we adopted a very short lived and not very widely used triple mag pouch that resembled the ones the MP40 used. Green and a feeble canvas plastic combo that wasn't very sturdy. I know they're still around because they only saw half a dozen years of use before surplus. Maybe Sarco or Numrich got them.
    Regards, Jim

I've had the Canadianicon P-64 30 round mag pouches for the C1 SMG Jim speaks of and Britishicon P'44 and P'58 mag pouches in the past. There are also 4 mag pouches that were made in the 1970's specifically for the 34 round magazine. The ones I've seen are green canvas with steel and brass fittings, dated 1972. The manufacturer's name is CANTAS. The stock number, 8465-66-021-1997 is present. I've only seen them for sale a few times. Someone told me years ago he thought they were British made for an Australianicon contract? They do have the Broad Arrow ownership mark present.

Lots of experience. Some are okay, some not so good. If you are lucky and get a good one, it's still going to be like an old Britishicon car... you will have to work on it from time to time. But for under $400... what can you expect! They can be fun shooters... but that's all. They are not, and never will be, 100% reliable like the real Sterling Mk4. And don't buy one thinking you will SBR it with a Mk4 barrel. You will only spend a lot of money and end up with junk if you go down that road.

I am not a fan of the 7.62x25 mm version. The 9 mm is fine... as long as you understand it's a roughly built copy of a bastardized Sterling that was made to comply with US import laws, closed bolt and long barrel. By all means get one if you are cool with that. Just don't go in expecting to get the Rolls Royce ... they are made with mostly Sterling parts and use the Sterling name.. but they don't come close to a Sterling SMG.
