    Loose LE #5 Flash hider

I noticed the front sight of my LE#5 was cocked over about 7 or 8 degrees to the left It is all original as far as I can tell. I could move it by hand with some difficulty but it does move No one handles my firearms and I know it wasn't dropped or banged around. How best to fix this ??? I was thinking about tapping the pins out and applying some "Permanent Loctite" to the barrel. Which way do the pins come out, and does anyone have any suggestions ??? Thanks, Jack

Thats weird. They shouldnt move. How often do you shoot it? One of the pins might be broken. When i took my apart, i tapped one pin out from the left side but the other one i ended up drilling out. I hit it from booth sides and it wouldnt move. I brook 2 punches and than i had to put the flash hinder in a vice and use a wrench to twist it off.

That's what I thought " Very Weird" I don't shoot it very often, more of a wall hanger than anything. Looks like it's a trip to the gunsmith.

THere has been many threads about this problem and it is simple to solve properly..., as per the good book ..... and that doesn't involve locktite or superglue. Ask someone who's clever to resurrect the old threads. But you have got to have the right kit and a sheet of glass or a surface plate.

Thanks Peter, I found one of your articles on how to repair the flash hider. I'm not to sure I want to try it myself. Last thing I want is a messed up rifle. Where would I find Morse pins ? Jack

Morse taper pins in the US. I'm not sure but I'm sure someone on the forum will know. But if it was mine and it had a loose flash eliminator I'd tin it first, sweat it on and align it THEN clean out the taper holes and insert new pins. DO NOT hammer them in as they will taper lock in any case. Hammer them in and you WILL pucker the barrel. Just a tap will tighten them

I'll have to talk to some of our local gunsmiths. I know what I can and can not do. Thanks, Jack
