I cant quite believe the current bid on this lot.

BREN GUN 100 Rd AA Drum Mag, Adapter & Winding Handle | eBay UK

By my working out, the
Box £90
Winder x2 £60
Adapter £285 (Price taken from another site, still way expensive)
Mag Well cover (£8)
AA Handle (£200)
So the drum mag must be worth to the high bidder over £640.

Only a few years back a whole box of 4 mags and the kit only cost £1000.

Isn't that kind of a mixed bag? The crate for the drums is square almost, that looks like a Bren chest. This just looks like someones spare parts. Except for the drum. I think he's only putting this all together so some desparate soul will over pay for the drum and he makes a mint...

Supply and demand I suppose. I'm struggling to remember the last time I saw a drum for sale.

Here's hoping I bump into one at the local car boot sale for a fiver...

I am finding that a large number of bidders are not paying for their merchandise on Eslim... It appears that the seller no longer has any protection and it is all a buyers world there now. You will notice that a number of items are back on the block within a few weeks by the same seller. I'm finding that after the sale you get messages that "I did not mean to bid that high, please cancel my bid" and a hundred different excuses of none payment. You turn them in and you get a bad rating....you cannot turn them in....as you have no way of negative feedback. I really think that Eslim has just gone to the dogs and as far as I am concerned, when they implode, good riddance. We need a new, more friendly global auction house, with less liberal (read pinko) views.
Any other views on this ??????

I have to say that I have never had a bad experience on Ebay, either as a buyer or a seller. I have always been paid quickly andbeen paid myself. Often sent stuff to the US and Australia on trust prior to payment and it's never been abused. I parcel went adrift that's all. The PO tried to deliver it, left a card, the bloke went to the PO a few days later and the package had 'gone' ( I'd call that stolen but there you go......). That's as I see it.

And I'm a believer in the old Sookey (curmudgeon No2 hisself.....) saying about there only being two prices worth talking about. Your price and the other persons price. That is the auction price

Am sure you can fill me in on details next week ? regarding my experiance have had only had a few probs with ebay, one was a fraud case involving a guy in the USA using a dodgy credit card, I lost £70 over some radio Valves, bit ****ed off at the time, as I was working for myself, and every penny counts and time is money.

But regarding what I have sold/ bought etc, I let it go, one thing was someone not sending a DVD set (was a gift for the boss) and it never turned up untill 3 weeks later ( they were in the UK about 50 miles away) but cant say it happens every day, and the other one was regarding a last minute bid on a bayonet ( see sticky on the edged weapons forum) still brings tears to my eyes regarding that one.

The grand final was a group of medals I sold, all went smoothly, but I recieved an email from a guy in Australia saying I had given him a second chance offer!! he reported it and so did I, someone was using all the details apart from the email and the paypal account, but after that and as you know, my regular email address etc has no conection with my ebay or other matters.

Thing with ebay it connects all corners of the world, going back 20 years ago, not many forums like this about, plus how many of us had a PC ? always think its a catch 22, for collectors and sellers etc, sometimes one item appears now and again and sometimes (if were lucky) its worded wrong or listed as something we would not even consider typing in a search, but once the seed is sewn, then everyone gets on the band wagon, the price goes through the roof then eventualy settles down, one thing always amazed me was a .22 bolt head for a No4 going for £70+ ?

For the average Joe trying to sell something/ or buy something, 20 years ago, it was a choice of the newspaper adds, the corner shop window, or the monthly magazine.

Now its ebay or similar but at the end of the day the advert reaches all corners of the globe, it does bump up the price at times, but it can bring it down, I guess it is a bit like marmite you love it or hate it, ( for our colonial cousins down unnder marmite is very similar to vegemite)

Any spelling mistake or typing can be down to having an afternoon in the garden with a lot of ice cold Pear Cider)
