A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Some background info

Back in the day, when I was resident in the UKicon I was a mad keen wreck diver, I found this item on the very badly broken wreck of the SS LUIS. On the 4th of April 1918 she was steaming 3.5 miles off the Isle Of Wight when she was torpedoed by the UC71 commanded by LT Walter Warzecha, the ship went down in 18m of water with the loss of four hands. The salvage rights were sold by the owners and the cargo of munitions (brass & lead) was salvaged by smash and grab in1923, I dived the wreck four or five tines and found this in the summer of 2002.
I would like to get it working so if any one knows how to take it apart or even if its worth doing bearing in mind it was in salt water for 84 years, does it contain a clockwork mechanism? Also, would this fuse be for a field piece or the ships own deck gun?

These usually come apart from the back. Small screws to start and then it comes apart in layers. It looks like the standard variable time fuse used on anything requireing one. Like you imply, it may be solid now.
