Sad No.4 Mk 1/2 project

This poor abused animal followed me home. No.4 Mk 1/2. Blued finish, all matching and bore seems pretty good. Scope mount is Non D/T. As no metal was hurt in the making of this thing it is officially a project. I am assuming that No.4 Mk2 wood fits, and I think I'll need a brass buttplate, swivels, front sight assembly rear sight assembly and bands. Anything I'm missing?

Good God - some people just have no souls. Why on earth would anyone do that to an innocent little Enfield? You can save it, I know you can!

Probably comes down to whether or not it's got a military barrel. Looks a bit heavy to me.

Barrel is Fazackerly 54, identical to the other Mk2s I have. Rifle was 1944 M47C and was FTR'd (obvioulsy at Fazackerly) in 1954 and renumbered at that time. I just got a beautiful set of almost black brand new No.4 Mk2 wood and I have to set about getting it to fit now. The receiver won't sit into the forearm right now because the wood needs to be relieved in several places. I have to be super careful not to screw it up

God Bless you newcastle..... Nice to see other people saving Enfields. I have a good friend (on this board he post under M4A3Sherman) that does the same thing with mousers. If you run into any odd screws that you need, if I have them I would gladly send them to you for the save.

Looks like I will need several - not least of which is the huge Buttstock bolt and it's washer. I will need a front sight assembly and the the screws for the front sight assembly and bands and an ejector screw. Finish is actually painted like a No.4 Mk2 NOT blued as I thought from memory. And I'll also need the correct rear sight. I have the spring and plunger but will need the pin, sight and the rod that the sight attaches to. if anyone has these things please pm me with price details etc and if it's economically viable this old girl will be back in no time. most;y cos teh wife takes off with the kids for 5 days in a week or so so I get time to do some projects

Ok taken stock of everything I need for this and it seems to be most of a rifle. Finish is the 1950's back painted finish like the No.4 Mk2's
- Front sight block and blade, pin and screw and front sight protector.
- Front band and screw
- Middle band and sling swivel and screw
- Rear Micrometer sight assy and pin (I have plunger and spring)
- Buttstock screw and washer
- Brass butt plate and screws
- Rear sling swivel and screws.
