Type II Handguard with "A" stamped on Underside

I have a very nice 2 rivet early handguard with the wide sight groove but the only stamping I can find on it is an "A" stamped in the barrel groove on the underside about 2 inches from the metal insert that the rivets are in. Any idea on the manufacturer? It has the cutout for the op rod.

No it does not have the Winchester circles on the cutout. So it may not be Winchester. I have seen that A before, just don't recall.
