    81 MM Mortar

Browsing for info on this item I've found (and having no good direction for info on what it is exactly...) I figured I'd ask here in the company of knowledgeable collectors on the subject. I clean out debris from REO houses and came across this interesting item at a job I was doing recently, It was resting on a high up ledge in a closet and almost landed on my head as it rolled out. Having little clue on what it was, I just had to save it from being taken to the scrap yard. I'm just curious on what I have here exactly and any value on it. Thanks in advance for the input!

That's an 81MM inert training round that has been fired. Probably WWII era.

Thanks, do you happen have any idea on the value on it? I'm unsure at this time on if I'm going to keep it or not. It is an interesting piece.

I don't think it's that old unless you can find a date on it. I used that exact round for training in the '70s. I also have one here from that timeframe. I couldn't say as to the value. I never thought that way about these.
    Regards, Jim
