Keep it, you won't regret it!

The Stevens hand guard is harder to find than a Stevens 520 or 620 Trench Gun missing it's hand guard. It's obvious to most if a Stevens gun has an incorrect hand guard; the color is an instant give away (correct arsenal re-builds not withstanding). I missed 2 of them at an OGCA (Ohio Gun Collector's Assn) show a couple of years ago. They were for sale for $1500 for the pair and by the time a buddy called me, got my answer (he knew I was looking for them; price was the only question), and got back to the table, they were sold and gone. I've gotten some excellent condition Stevens Trench Guns missing their hand guards from PD Depts over the years. A lot of PDs discarded the hand guards and they were lost. We were very lucky that the Ivanhoe guns had their hand guards when that group was released. I completed a 520 PD gun by buying a Winchester 97 with a Stevens guard and swapping it out and I do it again in a heart beat. The guy I sold the 97 to found a WWII Winchester guard at the same gun show, making everybody happy. FWIW...

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Yes. It is a Stevens. Yes, it looks to be in great shape and you might get as much as $1500 for it.
I would be interested in the shotgun if it is still around.
